Description

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Journeyman designation
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Provide own tools and willingness to acquire tools as required for jobs.
  • Red Seal is preferred but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform CVIP inspections, and familiarity with transportation regulation.
  • Knowledge of tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of company fleet assets.
  • Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose and repair complex, modern CNG and diesel engines, and advanced electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance tasks such as PM and safety inspections.
  • Complete required record keeping associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Review, plan and schedule work as required.
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and provide training to complete their apprenticeship program.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures.
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are kept in a safe operating condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company safety standards.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling.
  • Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
  • Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds
