Overview Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) – Contractor (Shop and Field Positions) Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. Job Type: Contractor Schedule: 12+ Hours per day, 10 & 4, OT after 8 hours/day or 44 hours/week Location: Edmonton and Surrounding Area Requirements: Full complement of hand tools. CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support Valid Driver’s License Pre-employment: Drug and alcohol testing which may be swab or urine depending on site requirements WCB and proof of liability of $5 million coverage Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) – Qualifications: Must be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with Red Seal – Off Road or equivalent Must have between 10-15 years' Journeyperson experience Off Road HDM experience is REQUIRED Mining/logging/construction background is preferred Experience with CAT E.T. and S.I.S. and/or Komatsu is REQUIRED Problem solver, ability to read/troubleshoot and diagnose using hydraulic and electronic schematics Quality workmanship, takes pride in their work Exceptional organization and cleanliness skills are REQUIRED Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) – Field Qualifications: 4x4 service truck, equipped with a minimum 5000 lbs. crane Air compressor and welding capabilities Laptop with all service programs Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) - Responsibilities: Ensure equipment is maintained at the highest standards, in a timely manner Conduct performance and quality checks according to procedure Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and overhauls This is a general responsibilities list and does not include all responsibilities required of the position Sureway Construction Group adheres to employment equity and equal opportunity programs.
