Overview Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): INDIVIDUALS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION MUST COMPLETE THE CIVIL SERVICE LABOR SERVICE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE POSITION AT https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/massachusetts IN ADDITION TO COMPLETING THE CITY OF BOSTON CAREER CENTER APPLICATION. Under general supervision, operates and has responsibility for one of a wide variety of heavy motor equipment not requiring a special license (other than a Commercial Driver's License) or unusual skill, such as dump trucks, street sweepers, snow plows, sanders, etc. Responsibilities Operate light and heavy motorized and hydraulic equipment such as heavy trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, tractors, sweepers, pavers, rollers, bucket trucks, and other equipment. Perform some routine and skilled laboring duties at intermediate levels. Prepare routine records, logs, and reports. Respond to daily inquiries, requests, and complaints from residents, contractors, etc. Operate snow plowing, removal, sanding, and salting equipment. Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations. Respond to and handle Constituent Relationship Management cases. May use mobile technology to communicate with supervisors and inspectors regarding Constituent Relationship Management cases. Support other Public Works Divisions as requested. Perform related work as required. Required to work all emergencies as directed by the Commissioner. Minimum Entrance Qualifications Must possess any and all licenses required by the Mass. Dept. of Public Safety to operate any heavy motor equipment, including a valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. Applicants must be available to work any assigned shift in any assigned area. BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED Terms: Union/Salary Plan/Grade: AFSCME RA1-13 Hours per week: 40
