POSITION: Helpdesk Technician (Level 1)
REPORTS TO: Manager of IT
OBJECTIVE: Provides on-site IT support and manage hardware infrastructure. This role is primarily in-office and focuses on hardware lifecycle management, PC imaging, and in-office user support, while also assisting with server builds, networking, and virtualization tasks under the guidance of the IT Manager.
COMPENSATION: Non-exempt (hourly), monthly cell phone stipend.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into systems, networking, or virtualization engineering roles.

Required

  • 1–3 years of IT support or hardware experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11 imaging and deployments.
  • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  • Familiarity with structured cabling and patch panels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for face-to-face support.

Preferred

  • Experience with imaging tools (Intune Autopilot, MDT, SCCM, Clonezilla).
  • Exposure to VMware vCenter or Hyper-V.
  • Basic Linux OS familiarity.
  • Experience with IT asset management systems.
  • Ability to lift and install IT hardware (PCs, monitors, servers).

Responsibilities

Helpdesk & User Support

  • Provide in-person Level 1 support for office users.
  • Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and conference room equipment.
  • Support VoIP desk phones and Zoom Rooms.
  • Diagnose physical connectivity issues, tone out/test cables, and patch to switch ports.
  • Escalate advanced issues with detailed documentation

Hardware Lifecycle & Inventory

  • Image, configure, and deploy PCs and laptops.
  • Maintain accurate IT hardware inventory in IT Glue.
  • Manage hardware lifecycle: procurement, deployment, decommissioning.
  • Coordinate vendor RMAs and warranty repairs.

Office Infrastructure & Networking

  • Assist with installation of networking equipment (switches, APs, firewalls).
  • Perform cable management and labeling in network closets.
  • Support day-to-day office IT systems (printers, meeting room tech)

Servers & Virtualization

  • Assist IT Manager with physical installation and imaging of servers.
  • Perform basic VMware vCenter tasks (monitoring VMs, snapshots, power operations).Learn and support OS imaging and rebuilds.
  • Security & Administration
  • Support endpoint security (antivirus, patch agents).
  • Perform basic Active Directory user and device management.
  • Ensure proper secure decommissioning of hardware.
