Description
Essential Functions for the Position: Individual to perform diagnostic and routine maintenance and repairs on bus and automotive air conditioning and associated electrical systems to include component and/or system overhaul. Works independently without direct supervision. May be called upon to act as relief section supervisor and preplan daily work schedules in the absence of the shop lead person. Special Knowledge & Skills: Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose air conditioning and all electrical systems, to include soldering and working with high‑voltage electrical parts, found on buses and automotive equipment. Must be able to read and understand technical publications, including air conditioning and electrical schematics. Must be able to use diagnostic equipment and various types of machinery and equipment associated with the trade. Must be able to overhaul and/or repair air conditioning and electrical system components as required. Must be familiar with current safety equipment and procedures. Must be able to preplan daily work schedules and work independently without direct supervision. Must have demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. Education, Training & Experience: Must be high school or trade school graduate. A minimum of six (6) years' practical working experience in vehicular air conditioning is preferred. Other Job Requirement & Conditions: Must possess EPA Certifications: 608‑Universal Certification and 609; certifications must be presented at time of testing. Must meet or be able to meet all present and future license and certification requirements as may be required by City, State or Federal governments. Must own and maintain a complete supply of trade‑required hand tools. Must have valid Hawaii State driver's license with clean traffic abstract, and must be able to pass State of Hawaii D.O.T. driving requirements for a "Type B" commercial driver's license. Must pass Company‑administered written and oral examinations. Must be able to meet standard physical requirements and pass Company‑sponsored medical examination and drug screening. Must be highly motivated individual with excellent work performance and attendance records; and must be willing and able to work various shifts, overtime and holiday duty as directed, with days off as assigned.
