Wyke Farms are looking for a herdsperson to join our young and exciting team on one of our progressive dairy herds, comprising 650 Holstein Friesian cows in Somerset. The herdsperson will help to take responsibility for the herd when the head herdsman is away.
The herd is all-year round calving, cubicle housed and TMR fed during the winter months, with low-yielding cows grazed during the summer.
Previous experience is preferred, with foot trimming, AI, and fresh cow management all advantageous. However, attitude and willingness to learn are crucial with full training provided.
We can offer a shift pattern rota, with only 1 milking a day, and every other weekend off, however all employees are expected to milk twice when working a weekend.
Milking times are at 3:30am and 2:30pm, milking through a 44unit doubled up Boumatic parlour, with ADF, auto ID and auto shedding. There are always 2 people milking and 1 on yards.
