POSITION OVERVIEW

Keystone Heritage is seeking a Heritage Craftsperson to join our team, ideal for someone with experience in construction trades, who is eager to develop expertise in heritage and conservation work. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with listed buildings and historic structures, as well as contributing to new building additions that seamlessly blend with existing heritage homes.
You’ll work alongside our experienced team, contributing to a variety of projects, from heritage restoration and conservation to sympathetic extensions and new building additions. This role offers the chance to build your career in a highly specialised area of construction, with guidance and support from industry experts.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in construction trades (e.g., carpentry, stone masonry, plastering, or roofing).
  • A strong interest in heritage conservation, as well as the construction of new additions that complement historic buildings.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills in traditional craft techniques and materials.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude toward learning and personal development.
  • Full UK driving license and own transport (essential for traveling between various project sites).
  • Own basic tools required for your trade.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the restoration and conservation of historic buildings, using traditional techniques in stone masonry, joinery, plastering, roofing, and more.
  • Help in the design and construction of new building additions to heritage houses, ensuring they complement the original structure’s style and materials.
  • Learn and apply heritage-specific construction methods and materials under the guidance of experienced craftspeople.
  • Support the team in carrying out repairs, refurbishments, and the restoration of listed and other heritage buildings, ensuring adherence to conservation regulations and best practices.
  • Maintain high safety and quality standards on-site, ensuring that all work meets both modern and heritage requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, and specialists to ensure each project is completed on time and to the highest standards.
  • Contribute to site preparation, material sourcing, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
