POSITION SUMMARY

The Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing high quality and comprehensive services to children and families enrolled in the Healthy Families Program through regular home visiting services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in Human Services, Child Development, Psychology, Education or related field or two years of related experience providing services to children and families preferred. Bachelor’s degree in above mentioned fields is also preferred.
  • Experience providing services to children and families home-visiting experience preferred.
  • Understand the social and economic challenges of the service area and be familiar with the community resources available for families.
  • Strong knowledge and commitment to serving families of diverse social and economic backgrounds.
  • Individual must be accepting, nonjudgmental, supportive, and compassionate.
  • Knowledge on infant and child development preferred.
  • Experience in working with families with multiple needs preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently while adhering to program guidelines and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle required.
  • Positive approach and ability to communicate effectively with families.
  • Possess excellent, highly developed listening skills with reflective capacity.
  • Proficient in both written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to think critically and efficiently organized with the ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
