HGV CLASS 1 DRIVER – RECYCLING INDUSTRY

Location: Newbury
Hours: Day shift, 06:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday (46.25 hours per week). Overtime and occasional weekend work available with prior notice.
Rate of Pay: £17.35 p/h
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
CSS Recycling is the UK’s leading processor of WEEE waste, providing sustainable recycling solutions for over 35 years. We work with local authorities, utility companies, and businesses nationwide to keep valuable resources in circulation.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a professional and detail-oriented HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. RO-RO (Roll-on Roll-off) experience is preferred, particularly within recycling or waste management, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, has a strong focus on safety and compliance, and takes pride in keeping on top of the necessary paperwork that keeps our operations running smoothly.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

  • HGV Class 1 Driving Licence (minimum 2 years’ driving experience).
  • Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
  • RO-RO (Wagon & Drag) experience desirable – training available.
  • Experience in the recycling, waste, or related logistics industries beneficial.
  • High attention to detail for paperwork and compliance.
  • Effective communicator with good problem-solving skills.
  • Presentable and professional – this is a customer-facing role.
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written.
Responsibilities
  • Collect, deliver, and exchange RO-RO bins between client sites and our three operational depots.
  • Follow scheduled driving routes provided by the Transport Department.
  • Complete all required documentation and weighbridge tickets accurately and promptly.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks, reporting defects immediately to the Transport Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy cab and a professional image at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with Transport, Yard Managers, and Weighbridge Operators.
