L F Pearce & Son are a small family run business looking for a Class 1 HGV bulk tipper driver. This job is based at Oakley, Bucks. We currently run 2 lorries within our fleet but we work with another local company which arranges all the transport arrangements. Normally there are 4 nights away per week (Mon -Thurs), but this can be discussed for the right candidate. We are FORS Bronze accredited and TASCC approved and so you will need to adhere to any standards they require. We run up to date vehicles and trailers and expect these to be looked after.
The role will be transporting grain and stone from farmers/quarries and deliver to mills, farms and other locations throughout the UK. You will be required to prepare the paperwork for each load and ensure it is accurate and adhere to site rules. You will be expected to do daily defect reporting and minor maintenance on the vehicle while reporting defects to the manager. You will also be responsible for taking the vehicle to six week checks on a Friday and collecting the vehicle on the following Saturday. You will be expected to keep the vehicle clean and tidy and ensure compliance with the company health and safety and other driving policies. Communication with customers and colleagues is a key element to arrange delivery and collection times.
The ideal candidate will have a good driving record and be a meticulous driver. Experience on tipper vehicles and nights out would be a bonus. Knowledge of Tachograph rules and up to date CPC is a necessity for this job. Able to cope under pressure and work towards deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally and have the ability to work co-operatively with others and independently at times without supervision.
