SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in operating HGV Class 1 vehicles, with at least 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with shunting work or an eagerness to learn.
  • Strong understanding of driver responsibilities, traffic laws, and road safety practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with both clients and colleagues.
  • The ability to work independently while meeting tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Category C+E Driving Licence (required).
  • Driver CPC certification (required).
  • Minimal licence points to ensure compliance and safety.
Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an HGV Class 1 Driver with Cargo Express, you’ll be at the heart of our operations. Your duties include:

  • Safe Driving: Operate Class 1 vehicles to transport goods to designated locations safely and efficiently.
  • Shunting Work: Perform short-distance runs and manoeuvring as required, ensuring smooth transitions within depots and loading areas.
  • Timely Deliveries: Uphold our promise of punctual service to clients in the automotive industry, ensuring their supply chain runs without interruption.
  • Vehicle Inspections: Carry out thorough pre-trip and post-trip checks to ensure the vehicle’s roadworthiness, logging any issues as per company policy.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Keep your assigned unit clean, organised, and in excellent working condition. Report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our dispatch team to coordinate schedules and adapt to changes.
  • Customer Interaction: Represent Cargo Express with professionalism when interacting with clients or site staff during deliveries.
