Freight Movement have been operating for over 25 years in the transport, pallet network and warehousing sector, we are a family business that operates from our head quarters in Rogerstone, Newport with further depot Cheltenham.
With a fleet of over 50 HGV vehicles and 50 trailers we strive to operate a fleet to the highest standard of road worthiness and compliance.
We are looking to employ a HGV Garage and Compliance Manager to maintain current standards, we are looking for an individual who adheres to there own high standard and is capable of mentoring the same high level to their staff, must be able to encourage and promote high quality of workmanships, have a knowledge of DVSA legislation and a level of experience in compliance that will maintain or better the standard already set.

Responsibilities

DUTIES -WORKSHOP:

  • Ensuring all Health and Safety requirements are met in line with company policies, including responsibility for the auditing, supervision and control of technician and any subcontractors.
  • Responsible for the financial P&L’s for the workshop ensuring full cost control at all times.
  • Ensuring DVSA compliance standards are maintained at all times and inline with company policy.
  • Be responsible for the scheduling of all company vehicles for MOT, Inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to all vehicles and trailers, ensuring that agreed levels of vehicle resources are available to all depots.
  • Be responsible for providing KPI data to operational and transport managers.
  • Managing Technicians including performance, productivity and being responsible for quality control and appraisals for all workshop/administration staff.
  • Manage an effective procurement and supplier management process for vehicle parts and external repairs, delivering an efficient cost effective fleet solution.
  • Holding weekly/monthly engagement meetings with managers to keep all departments informed and allow for better planning in the event of VOR/MOT and or servicing & inspections, so to minimise impact to resources, revenues and maintain high level of customer service/satisfaction.

DUTIES - COMPLIANCE:

  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with laws and regulations
  • Identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the business.
  • Provide training to employees on compliance-related topics.
  • Investigate any reported infringements or concerns regarding compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Prepare reports on compliance activities and to action driver briefings or training to maintain level of compliance.
  • To report or take action where compliance or workmanship has dropped to a level not excepted by legislation or the business.

What we are looking for:

  • City & Guilds, HNC or ONC in vehicle maintenance.
  • In depth knowledge of a wide range of vehicles and trailers.
  • A natural leader with a proven track record in successful workshop supervision.
  • LGV Licence an advantage - desirable.
  • CPC in Road Transport Management (or willing to work towards)
  • Experience with managing challenging situations within the workplace, along with holding employee performance review meetings, whilst identifying talent and promoting development of staff.

Requirements:
Proven experience working in a HGV workshop management role and compliance role. Knowledge of DVSA operating of an HGV commercial vehicle, HGV driving regulations. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
