KEY SKILLS:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in HGV Maintenance
  • HGV Technician (3 years)
  • Supervisor experience
  • Positive attitude and work ethic, with a high level of professionalism
  • Work effectively as part of steam in a busy workshop environment
  • Good communication skills

Responsibilities
  • To take responsibility for the shift in terms of management of staff, repairs, maintenance and services scheduled, liaising with the Workshop Controller.
  • To carry out all repairs to the current manufacturer’s standards and ensure all components are fitted to complete these repairs within the manufacturer’s book times.
  • To interpret repair order instructions and technical instructional information.
  • To communicate and liaise with the Workshop Controller on repairs requiring specialist skills, additional work, complications etc
  • To sign off work and complete all relevant paperwork prior to forwarding it to the Workshop Controller/Shift Leader.
  • To maintain a high level of competence for the work to be undertaken by continuous professional development (CPD) by training, reading technical bulletins etc
  • Once relevant training is completed, carry out breakdowns, recovery duties, MOT’s, PDI’s, Fit accessories, electrical and tachograph work
  • To ensure professionalism and quality are maintained at all times in particular with customers and suppliers.
  • To assist managers with the introduction of new methods, designed or implicated to improve efficiency.
  • To ensure the care, maintenance and safekeeping of all tools, equipment and materials used and report any defects found.
  • To comply with Thompsons Safety Policy and other safety procedures and guidelines which are deemed part of this job description. Employees must look after their own health, safety and welfare and be mindful of other persons who may be affected by their acts. Employees must cooperate and comply with management instructions regarding Health and Safety issues and report all accidents, incidents and problems as soon as practicable to their supervisor, manager or other senior members of staff available.
