Job Description HGV Tanker Driver Essex & Suffolk Permanent, full-time Competitive salary, Enhanced Overtime Rates plus benefits Reporting into the HGV and Tankering Manager you will safely operate the HGV wastewater tanker, collecting and transporting liquid waste from commercial, industrial, and residential sites to designated disposal facilities. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while delivering a professional and efficient service. More about the role: Drive and operate an HGV wastewater tanker in accordance with UK road laws and company policies. Drive and maintain the HGV vehicle, ensuring compliance with road transport laws and company policies. Respond to emergency callouts for drainage blockages and flooding issues. Follow site safety procedures, including working in confined spaces and handling hazardous waste. Complete job reports, risk assessments, and customer documentation accurately. Maintain equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs. Provide excellent customer service and liaise with clients professionally. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safe disposal of waste. To always work safely and ensure the safety of all those working around them. To comply with the requirements of the company policies, procedures and relevant risk assessments and method statements. Conduct drainage maintenance and clearance work using high-pressure jetting equipment. Perform daily vehicle checks, ensuring the vehicle is maintained in accordance with company and legal requirements. Control access to restricted areas to maintain security and compliance by use of Signs, Lighting & Guarding. Represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Qualifications About you: Essential Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) licence. Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card. Experience driving large vehicles in varied environments. Ability to work safely with hoses, pumps, and manual handling tasks. Good understanding of UK transport regulations. Willingness to work in wastewater and industrial environments. Desirable: Previous experience in the wastewater, liquid waste, tanker, or utilities sector. Vacuum tanker or jetting experience. Confined space or water hygiene training (e.g., EUSR). ADR qualification (particularly for hazardous waste) though not always required.
