REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • A valid HGV driving license (preferred but not essential).
  • Familiarity with MOT standards and DVSA requirements.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our team in Biggleswade. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a reputable organization, maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in a professional and efficient manner.
As part of the night shift team, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our vehicles are roadworthy and ready for operation, adhering to the highest safety and maintenance standards. This role offers a consistent Monday-to-Friday night schedule, giving you weekends free.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and associated equipment.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, ensuring vehicles meet compliance standards.
  • Carry out MOT preparation and checks to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed, using the company’s internal systems.
  • Work independently to manage the night shift workload while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in the workplace.
