JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a suitably experienced HGV Technician to join our team based in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy. This role requires a strong understanding of HGV mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to communicate with colleagues.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar role.
  • Good working knowledge of diesel/petrol powered plant
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to use power tools safely and effectively.
  • Experience with welding and soldering techniques is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

DUTIES

  • To check and repair vehicles to VOSA and manufacturer’s standards
  • Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify issues.
  • Assemble and disassemble vehicle components as necessary.
  • Perform equipment repairs, including welding and soldering tasks.
  • Utilise power tools and machinery safely to carry out repairs and maintenance.
  • Operate forklifts for the movement of heavy parts and equipment.
  • Engage in heavy lifting when required during repairs or maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle’s condition.
