Description
Description Job Title: Campus Minister Department: Campus Ministry Reports To: Director of Faith and Mission Status: Full-Time (Benefits Eligible) Job Summary: You’re someone who has a missionary heart. You love Jesus and His Church, and you love walking with young people as they figure out who He is in their lives. You have a high level of creativity and are not afraid to think outside the box, innovate, and try new things. You know that ministry is about both presence and planning. You're just as comfortable sitting with a student at lunch as you are coordinating details for a retreat. You come alive when you’re part of a team, and you see collaboration not as a burden but as a joy. At the core, you believe Catholic identity isn’t just something we talk about in theology class. It should breathe through every aspect of school life. And your deepest desire is to help students belong, believe, and become who God created them to be. Job Description: The Campus Minister is a vital part of the Faith & Mission team, serving under the Director of Faith & Mission to help create a culture where students encounter Christ, grow in authentic community, and live the liturgical life of the Church as disciples. This role is about presence as much as it is about planning. The Campus Minister walks with students in the ups and downs of daily life while also helping to shape experiences, like retreats, liturgies, and community life, that draw them closer to Christ. With creativity, energy, and a collaborative spirit, the Campus Minister partners with the Director of Faith & Mission to dream big and strengthen the spiritual life of the school. Key Responsibilities: Retreats & Faith Formation Collaborate with the Director of Faith & Mission to plan and carry out retreats and other formative experiences for students. Mentor and equip student leaders to give witness talks, lead small groups, and serve on retreats. Help ensure retreats are prayerful, engaging, and mission-aligned—balancing logistics with spiritual depth. Assist in coordinating all-school Masses, reconciliation services, adoration, and other opportunities for prayer and worship. Implementation of various initiatives or events that invite students to enter into deeper a liturgical life Community System Support Collaborate with the Director of Faith & Mission and House Mentors to foster authentic faith and community within the school’s Community/House System. Pastoral Care & Student Presence Serve as a visible and approachable pastoral presence in the school building and at student events. Walk with students in their faith journeys by listening, mentoring, and providing spiritual encouragement. Support students in moments of need and collaborate with the Director of Faith & Mission and Chaplain as appropriate. Innovation & Collaboration Partner with the Director of Faith & Mission to imagine and implement new initiatives that strengthen campus ministry and the overall Catholic identity of the school. Contribute to the long-term vision of campus ministry at St. Michael the Archangel while supporting its daily needs. Qualifications: Practicing Catholic in good standing, living in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Experience in youth ministry, campus ministry, or retreat leadership (high school experience strongly preferred). Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, chaplain, and students while also taking initiative in assigned areas. A spirit of creativity, flexibility, and joy in serving Christ and His Church. St. Michael High School offers a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental and vision plans, STD/LTD fully paid by the employer, retirement plans including a 403b plan and a defined benefit pension plan. Paid time off includes generous vacation and sick leaves, plus paid holidays. Requirements Note: All employees are required to consent to a background check, commit to our Code of Conduct policy, and complete online and in-person trainings prior to hire.
