Basic familiarity with computers is a plus, but not required. Internship Title:    Administrative Intern Internship Description/Learning Objectives:   * Gain hands-on experience in community engagement by assisting in the day-to-day operations of the FreeStore. * Learn inventory management, customer service, and basic nonprofit operations while supporting neighbors in need. * Develop organizational, communication, and teamwork skills in a real-world setting. Job Duties:   * Greet and assist community members shopping at the FreeStore. * Sort, organize, and restock incoming donations (food, clothing, household items). * Maintain clean, orderly displays and storage areas. * Track inventory levels and coordinate restocking with staff/volunteers. * Provide excellent customer service, answering basic questions and directing neighbors to resources. * Support data entry for inventory records and client feedback (as needed).     Preferred Competencies:   * Good communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment * Basic organizational skills and attention to detail * Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic nonprofit setting * Respect and empathy for diverse populations                                                                                         General Information: Work Schedule Days and Hours:     Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM-3:30 PM  Friday: 4 hours for cohort activities   Dress Code:   Casual, but neat. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. Travel Required:   None beyond the daily commute to the FreeStore site. Physical Requirements:   Ability to lift boxes/items to 25 lbs Standing and walking for extended periods Working Conditions: (example: Office Warehouse, Outdoors, with Children or Animals, etc.)   Indoor environment with some light warehouse/stockroom tasks Frequent interaction with community members, staff, and volunteers     The full program is June 1st – July 17th    June 1st – June 3rd:   Interns attend work readiness skills training from 8am – 12pm. June 4th:                      Attend employer orientation meeting. June 5th:                      POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport June 8th – July 17th:   Youth will report to their employer worksite location Monday -Thursday or special schedule workday at the time                                          scheduled by employer.  You will be scheduled to work 6.5 hours daily which equals 24 hours per week. Friday Co-Horts:            Youth report to cohort sessions at assigned locations at 8:30am to 12:30pm on Fridays.                                 July 17th:                     POWER Youth Summer Employment Program.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          If you are selected as a High School Intern, you will make $15.00 an hour and receive pre-program training and coaching to ensure you have the skills you need on the job. Interns are responsible for providing their own transportation to all orientation, training, worksite, and cohort times.
