Nearest MTA Bus Stop: Broadway and 10th Ave Internship Information: Format: (In-Person Only) In-person Positions Available: 2 Technology Used: Uniforms Required (provided by the hotel) Internship Title: Laundry Attendant Internship Description/Learning Objectives: This internship is a unique opportunity for anyone thinking about entering into the hospitality industry. The Grand Hyatt Hotel has a fully functioning laundry department. The interns will tend to laundering machines to clean articles such as wearing apparel, sheets, blankets, and other linens used by the hotel and guests. All interns must be 17 years of age or older to apply. One free, hot meal will be provided each shift. Job Duties: The major job responsibilities involved in this position include the following: - Load articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agent. - Turn valve to fill washer with water. - Start machine that automatically washes and rinses articles. - Lift clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into wringers and driers for measured time cycles. - Sort dried articles according to identification number or type. - Fold and place item in appropriate storage bin. - Iron all table linens. - Lubricate machines, using grease gun and oil can. - Ensure cleanliness of equipment. - Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner. - Other duties as assigned Preferred Competencies: Interest in keeping this job after the summer in either a part-time or full-time capacity with the possibility of a raise ● Move or lift heavy objects ● Comfortable around chemicals and electrical equipment ● Ability to thrive on a diverse team ● Attention to detail and interest in maintaining a clean workspace ● Identify and distinguish colors ● Stand for long periods of time ● Walk extended distances ● Lift/carry 26-50 lbs. ● Kneel and/or stoop repeatedly General Information: Work Schedule Days and Hours: Tuesday- Thursday & Saturday from 8am-2:30pm Dress Code: Uniform Required. Intern should wear closed, non-stick shoes. Travel Required: Intern will be placed at the location listed. Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., possible exposure to loud noises This intern must be 17 years of age or older. Working Conditions: (example: Office Warehouse, Outdoors, with Children or Animals, etc.) In a hotel (exposure to heat and cold), outdoors The full program is June 1st – July 17th June 1st – June 3rd: Interns attend work readiness skills training from 8am – 12pm. June 4th: Attend employer orientation meeting. June 5th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport June 8th – July 17th: Youth will report to their employer worksite location on Monday – Thursday or special schedule workday at the time scheduled by employer. You will be scheduled to work 6.5 hours daily which equals 24 hours per week. Friday Co-Horts: Youth report to cohort sessions at assigned locations at 8:00am to 12:00noon on Fridays. July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program. If you are selected as a High School Intern, you will make $15.00 an hour and receive pre-program training and coaching to ensure you have the skills you need on the job. Interns are responsible for providing their own transportation to all orientation, training, worksite, and cohort times. Responsibilities

The intern will operate laundry machinery to clean and process hotel linens, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing. They are also responsible for maintaining equipment cleanliness and providing friendly service to hotel guests.
