Nearest MTA Bus Stop: 2nd Ave and Middleton Street (2-minute walk) Internship Information: Format: (In-Person Only) In-person Positions Available: 4 Technology Used: Smart Phone that was manufactured in 2019 or later (iPhone 11 or later, etc.)Internship Title: Education Intern Internship Description/Learning Objectives:This internship consists of hands-on experience in Education, primarily related to our Summer Camps. Working as a team, interns will be responsible for maintaining the Summer Camp Flow. Monday-Friday, interns will assist in the classroom with Lead Teaching Artists as well as Assistant Teaching Artists. It is a great experience in learning what kind of content is effective and attention grabbing, learning classroom management, and hands-on experience with children in the theatre classroom setting. On Fridays, interns will help prepare and execute tasks for camp performances at 3pm, as well as prep for camps taking place the following week, and run the merch table for camp T-shirts. Job Duties: The following tasks are broken down into percentage of time that an intern will spend doing them throughout the summer. * Assisting with Camp-85% * Helping the Teaching Artists with facilitation of activities in the classroom. * Overseeing care of students while having meals * Preparation and cleanup – 15% * Helping with program preparations and cleaning up (examples: making copies, preparing materials, cleaning, moving tables) Preferred Competencies: * Storytelling skills * Ability to interact with customers and maintain a positive attitude * Comfortable working with children * Experience working with children * Interest in being part of a diverse team * Ability to thrive in a team environment * Ability to work independently * Detail-oriented * Willingness to be flexible General Information: Work Schedule Days and Hours: M-THUR- 9:00am-3:30pm Dress Code: Non-Graphic clothing; Appropriate clothing for day camp with young people; close-toe shoes are required at all times. Travel Required: None Physical Requirements: Occasionally lifting up to 20lbsWorking Conditions: (example: Office Warehouse, Outdoors, with Children or Animals, etc.)Classroom, outside, working with children The full program is June 1st – July 17th June 1st – June 3rd: Interns attend work readiness skills training from 8am – 12pm. June 4th: Attend employer orientation meeting. June 5th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport June 8th – July 17th: Youth will report to their employer worksite location on Monday – Thursday or special schedule workday at the time scheduled by employer. You will be scheduled to work 6.5 hours daily which equals 24 hours per week. Friday Cohorts: Youth report to cohort sessions at assigned locations at 8:00am to 12:00noon on Fridays. July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program. If you are selected as a High School Intern, you will make $15.00 an hour and receive pre-program training and coaching to ensure you have the skills you need on the job. Interns are responsible for providing their own transportation to all orientation, training, worksite, and cohort times.
