The Olivet Missionary Baptist Church’s Summer Enrichment Program is an eight-week program that offers a safe and nurturing environment that promotes academic growth and social/emotional maturity. We encourage our program participants to become responsible individuals by promoting independence and positive relationship building. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in pursuing a career in Education. Nearest MTA Bus Stop:   Bus #23 (Dickerson Road) – stops directly in front of the facility   Internship Information: Format: (In-Person Only)   In Person Positions Available:   3 Technology Used:    Phone Internship Title:    Camp Counselor Internship Description/Learning Objectives:   Working with children ages 5 – 12; Exploring opportunities that will engage interns who are interested in the educational field Job Duties:   Ensure program participants are always safe; Monitor assigned group, always maintaining a visual view; Engage with program participants throughout the day in various activities (indoor and outdoor) as directed by the Supervisor/Group Leader; Occasionally assist with meal serving/prepping area; Ensure areas used are cleaned after use Preferred Competencies:   Interest in working with school-age children, ages 5 – 12; Ability to work with other counselors to plan activities weekly; Ability to follow the lead of supervisors/group leaders.   General Information: Work Schedule Days and Hours:   Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 2:30pm OR 11:00am – 5:30pm Dress Code:   Appropriate athletic shorts-clothes/casual clothes   Field trip days – counselor shirt (will be provided) Travel Required:   Field Trips (Tuesday and Thursday each week – ride on bus with group) Physical Requirements:   Occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds Working Conditions: (example: Office Warehouse, Outdoors, with Children or Animals, etc.)   With children at church facility   The full program is June 1st – July 17th    June 1st – June 3rd:   Interns attend work readiness skills training from 8am – 12pm. June 4th:                      Attend employer orientation meeting. June 5th:                      POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport June 8th – July 17th:   Youth will report to their employer worksite location on Monday –                                         Thursday or special schedule workday at the time                                          scheduled by employer.  You will be scheduled to work 6.5 hours daily                                       which equals 24 hours per week.   Friday Cohorts:              Youth report to cohort sessions at assigned locations at 8:00am to 12:00noon on Fridays.     July 17th:                     POWER Youth Summer Employment Program.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  If you are selected as a High School Intern, you will make $15.00 an hour and receive pre-program training and coaching to ensure you have the skills you need on the job. Interns are responsible for providing their own transportation to all orientation, training, worksite, and cohort times. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation. The POWER Youth program, previously known as Opportunity NOW, provides career exploration and work experience activities for youth 14 to 24 years old. The name POWER Youth was selected by the peer youth leadership team based on how they view themselves and their future.
