POSITION OVERVIEW

The Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching Grades 9 to 12 music courses aligned with the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of curriculum expectations, instructional strategies, and assessment practices as outlined by the Ministry of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching the Ontario Secondary School Music Curriculum
  • Proficient in one or more musical instruments; piano or guitar preferred
  • Experience conducting choirs or ensembles strongly preferred
  • Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging music instruction in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 9–12
  • Teach music theory, composition, and appreciation across various genres
  • Conduct and supervise school ensembles (e.g., choir, band, small groups)
  • Utilize differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Assess and evaluate student learning using Ministry-aligned strategies and reporting tools
  • Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary projects and school events
  • Maintain open communication with students, parents/guardians, and school leadership
