JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate high school Physical Education / Female Athletics program and Media Arts teacher to join our educational team. This is an LTO (Long Term Occasional position with a start date of September 22, 2025 and with a tentative end date of Dec 15, 2026). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching a variety of physical activities, promoting healthy lifestyles, coaching female athletic teams, and ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment as well as teaching a Grade 10 Media Arts course

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology is an asset
  • Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) status preferred; equivalent qualifications considered
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Ontario Physical Education and Health and Media Arts Curriculum
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • 2+ years of teaching Physical Education/Media Arts to high school students in school setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver comprehensive PE lessons aligned with Ontario curriculum standards.

  • Introduce students to various sports, fitness activities, and physical skills.
  • Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Assess student performance and provide feedback.
  • Adapt activities for students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Educate students about healthy eating habits and the importance of nutrition.
  • Teach about the impact of diet on overall health and athletic performance.
  • May involve developing and implementing health-related curriculum.
  • Encourage students to make healthy food choices and adopt healthy lifestyles.
  • Coach and train female athletic teams.
  • Support, and supervise coaches for various sports.
  • Organize and manage interscholastic sports programs.
  • Promote female participation in sports and physical activity.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for female athletes.
  • Attend games and practices, potentially including transportation.
