Description Job Title: High School Principal Job Classification: Certified/Administrative Reports to: Superintendent Work Schedule: Calendar Year Qualifications: Master's Degree with building level administration license. Must have a minimum of 5 years of classroom experience. Must have building level administrative experience. Valid Indiana Administrator License required. Primary Responsibilities: Actively works with issues related to curriculum development and professional development for school staff. Directly responsible for the administration, supervision, and evaluation of teachers and various staff members related to the management of the school. Organizes, coordinates, supervises, evaluates, and interprets the total instructional program. Promotes and supports school-wide educational advancement in 21st Century skills. Integrates knowledge and skills that are relevant to the 21st Century. Perform other related duties as assigned. Supports instructional practices required to implement STEM concepts. Possesses familiarity with national standards in science, engineering, and technology. Reinforces the appropriate role of technology in both teaching and learning. Assists in infusing STEM learning across the curriculum. Supports and manages a project-based learning environment. Develops the instructional program consistent with the needs of the students, the mandates of the state, and the initiatives of the District and the Superintendent. Visits classrooms to maintain an ongoing knowledge of classroom procedures for teaching and learning at the school and assure modifications to the instructional program based on District as well as State initiatives. Organizes and supervises the faculty and staff to maintain balanced assignments of curricular and cocurricular duties. Assists the staff with the selection and implementation of textbooks, equipment, and teaching materials consistent with district guidelines and standards. Provides proper administration and supervision for all state and district testing. Acts as a role model internally & externally; maintains a positive and respectful attitude. Utilizes automated and other data systems effectively and efficiently. School Activities: The High School Principal will be required to attend and/or participate in such activities as directed by the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent such as: faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, chaperone student activities and attend athletic events. Essential Skills and Abilities: Possesses critical/creative thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. Can move about school campus, with or without reasonable accommodations, and amongst classroom settings daily. Has the temperament and stamina to sustain extended work hours and problem situations. Possesses the ability to read, compose, and deliver instructions and information. Communicates effectively in writing and speech; utilizes technology resources as appropriate. Demonstrates ongoing professional growth and development. High level of organization and resourcefulness, with a keen ability to be on top of the day-to-today management of a school. Humble, reflective, and willing to continually improve. Ability to prioritize effectively to accomplish the most important tasks without losing sight of other details. The ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, and all other stakeholders. Possess the emotional intelligence required to effectively lead a school. Must demonstrate foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills.
