Description (Part-Time Chemistry Teacher or Full-Time Chemistry, Physics and Physical Science Teacher) Saint Albert Catholic, a co-educational, child care center to high school located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, seeks a part-time high school chemistry teacher for the 2026-27 school year or a full-time chemistry, physics and /physical science teacher who is passionate about advancing the mission of Catholic education. Summary of Position: This position is perfectly suited for the teacher who is passionate about the area of science and desires to further our students in their learning journey, helping them to reach their potential in a Catholic school environment. Our high school science teacher is responsible for supporting diverse learners to foster a love for science, which prepares them for future success in education and beyond. In addition, the successful candidate should be able to help students see the relevance and importance of science in their lives. Saint Albert Catholic expects and encourages teacher collaboration through the sharing of teaching strategies, resources, and ideas that will lead to successful student outcomes. Teachers must have a willingness to be an active participant in the larger school community to continue our positive school culture, which can have a lasting impact on students. Essential Functions: Develop and deliver instruction strategies in high school science courses, including but not limited to chemistry, physics, and physical science, which align with Iowa Core that engage students in active and positive learning that is appropriate for the students’ grade level. Develop and deliver instruction strategies in middle school science exploration as an elective course. Ability to develop a rapport with students to build trust and encourage their progress, and a classroom environment where students feel safe and comfortable taking risks and questioning to seek understanding. Promote student achievement by effectively managing a classroom of diverse learners that fosters an environment both inviting and accepting to the student. Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues. Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians, informing them of their child’s progress and addressing any concerns they may have. Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in education from an accredited college or university. Must have an active Iowa Teaching Licensure with proper endorsements or have this in place by August 2026. Minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience in a high school classroom (Preferred). Demonstrated success in designing and implementing engaging, standards-based lesson plans. Excellent communication (written & verbal), organizational, and time-management skills.
