Job Summary

Blossom Microschool is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centred High School Science Tutor to provide personalized instruction in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology for students in Grades 10–12. This role is designed to support students in building strong scientific knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills within a structured, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching and the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts, making them accessible, relevant, and enjoyable for learners. Experience working with Third Culture Kids (TCKs) or students from diverse educational backgrounds is an asset. The ideal tutor is patient, adaptable, and committed to helping students achieve academic excellence.

Job Duties

  • Provide personalized one-on-one or small-group instruction in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology to students in Grades 10–12.
  • Support students in developing a strong understanding of scientific concepts, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Reinforce school curriculum through structured lessons, guided practice, and exam preparation.
  • Monitor student progress, provide regular feedback, and communicate areas of improvement to the Lead Success Coach.
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans, instructional materials, and practice exercises aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and academically rigorous learning environment.
  • Maintain professionalism and build respectful relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Grade 10–12 Chemistry, Physics, and Biology (Alberta curriculum experience is an asset).
  • Bachelor's degree or current post-secondary studies in a science-related field (Education, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline preferred).
  • Previous experience teaching or tutoring high school students will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly, patiently, and in an engaging manner.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to helping students achieve academic success.
  • Passion for working with adolescents and supporting diverse learners, including Third Culture Kids (TCKs).
  • Alignment with Blossom Microschool's values of personalized learning, holistic development, cultural awareness, and academic excellence.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.
