HISTORY AND ENGLISH SPECIALIST TEACHER: HIGH SCHOOL (0.85 FTE ACROSS 5 DAYS PER WEEK, CAN BE FLEXIBLE). TERM 3 START.

Aurora Southern Highlands Steiner School is seeking a dedicated and innovative High School HSIE and English Specialist. We are seeking a teacher who can work with a spirit of collegiality to contribute to our high school in a way that allows for the healthy development of students. The successful applicant will be an educator who is committed to Steiner education and who works with energy, creativity, skill and an enthusiasm for teaching. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working warmly and professionally with children, families and colleagues.They will enjoy collaborating in a team environment, readily sharing ideas and engaging harmoniously with colleagues to further Steiner Education in a contemporary context.

An Aurora Teacher is responsible for:

  • designing and delivering an exceptional programme of learning that follows the Steiner curriculum and is contextualised to Aurora and NSW.
  • creating a warm and inclusive learning environment where children flourish physically, socially/emotionally and academically.
  • integrating academic, artistic and practical learning in rhythmically rejuvenating and creative ways to ensure balanced learning and to foster wellbeing.
  • implementing diverse and effective teaching strategies to meet the full range of children’s educational needs.
  • assessing and monitoring student progress and development, and working closely with students, colleagues and parents to achieve excellent educational outcomes for each child.
  • planning and organising class and community events to expand student learning and to build meaningful connections and the experience of belonging.
  • maintaining attendance records and teaching and learning documentation, including assessment data.
  • working closely with the Year Advisor and High School Faculty, Learning Support Team, teacher assistants, and families to implement differentiated learning plans and goals.
  • engaging in professional learning that deepens an understanding of Steiner Education, as well as current advancements in approaches to teaching and learning.

Aurora Southern Highlands Steiner School is located in a beautiful setting just minutes away from the Bowral town centre in NSW. We are a dynamic, young, Pre-K to Year 12 school with a single stream class structure for K – 6 and composite classes in the secondary school.
