Description To learn more about our Faculty of Friends click HERE Description Job Title: High School Music Teacher (Choral Emphasis) Department: Fine Arts Reports To: School Principal Status: 10-month Contract (Benefits Eligible) Job Summary St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School is seeking a passionate and qualified High School Music Teacher with an emphasis in choral music to join the Fine Arts Department beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will cultivate a dynamic choral program, inspire students through musical excellence, and support the mission and values of Catholic education. Key Responsibilities Teach high school music courses with a primary emphasis on choral instruction. Develop, rehearse, and direct student choirs, fostering vocal technique, musical literacy, and performance excellence. Plan and lead choral performances, concerts, and liturgical music for school Masses and prayer services. Select appropriate and diverse choral repertoire aligned with educational goals and Catholic values. Integrate faith, service, and Catholic identity into music instruction and performances. Prepare students for performances, festivals, competitions, and community or diocesan events, as applicable. Create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment that supports student growth. Assess student progress and provide timely feedback in accordance with school grading policies. Collaborate with faculty, administration, and Campus Ministry to support school-wide initiatives and events. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities. Qualifications Education and Certification Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Choral Music, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain certification in the State of Missouri. Demonstrated experience in choral conducting and vocal pedagogy preferred. Experience teaching or directing choirs at the high school level. Knowledge of adolescent vocal development and choral rehearsal techniques. Practicing Catholic preferred; must be supportive of and willing to uphold the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Work Environment Classroom, rehearsal, and performance-based setting within a high school environment. Occasional evening and weekend hours for concerts, performances, and liturgical events.
