As a Reliability Engineer at Ford Motor Company, you will play a key role in developing quality, reliable, and durable vehicles for customers around the globe. Successful applicants must possess a strong interest in reliability, product testing, and customer support. Workload will consist of supporting cross functional groups to identify reliability challenges, drive to robust reliability solutions early in the development, and track reliability through product launch. Projects will be targeted to high profile new products, technology, and launches. The position requires presentation of status and findings allowing diverse management exposure. Develop methodology to set Reliability goals. Create frameworks and methods used to develop Reliability test plans. Work to integrate Reliability into all phases of vehicle and component development. What you'll do… High Time in Service Reliability and High Repair Cost Quality Improvement Projects Lead/support High Time in Service Quality Projects using Design for Six Sigma / 8D processes on aggressive timelines to support suspension warranty spend and failure rate reduction targets. Responsibilities include evaluation of high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems and engine/vehicle applications with a focus on issues that contribute to > 12 MIS warranty and/or are design/physics related versus supplier quality/manufacturing defect related. Projects will be expected to rapidly work through the Define, Characterize, Optimize and Verify phases of the DFSS process including root cause identification and verification, implementation of ICA/PCA’s, read across and prevent recurrence. Strong focus on warranty data/trend analysis, part return analysis and physical understanding of suspension systems and subsystems as key tools to identification root cause and interim and permanent corrective actions. Help develop relationships with dealerships and fleets as key sources of information to quickly identify and resolve HTIS quality issues. Ability to design, execute or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full vehicle testing to identify root cause, replicate quality issues and validate fixes. Identify and document lessons learned for knowledge preservation. Lower Cost per Repair Projects Run data analytics to understand repair cost variation that can be optimized for a lower cost repair. Review multiple service procedures and trial more efficient procedures that can be implemented in the field. Identify and document lessons learned for knowledge preservation. Cost per Unit Warranty Reduction Opportunities Engineering Project leads to all suspension systems and all vehicle lines that are negatively contributing to our yearly objectives. Assess all warranty tools against each cost per unit concern within the assigned propulsion group and identify opportunities to move forward with lower cost repair options. Kick off the appropriate teams to lead work plan for identified opportunities. Identify and document lessons learned for knowledge preservation. Project leader Expected to present frequently to senior management project status and results, interface regularly with quality, powerpack and core engineers and TS’s and maintain required project documentation including 1-pagers, 6-panels, 8D reports, management summary documents, etc. Lead/attend team meetings. This position is a salary grade 6 - 8 and ranges from $72,480 - 162,120. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
