An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop your skills within the Adult Speech & Language Therapy Service –
Our service currently has Community Lead sessions available in the North of the county with WTE 0.56 sessions. Also available are WTE 0.3 acute ward sessions at NGH.
The successful candidate will be required to provide leadershipincluding Promote a culture of positivity, involvement and trust, act as a role model for the leadership behaviours.
The post holder will be an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with highly specialist knowledge of differential diagnosis associated with highly complex Dysphagia and communication disorders.
Will Lead the Community Team and take on management role and responsibilities within this Team.
You will join the community and wider Acute and community Countywide Adult Speech & Language Therapy team of Speech and Language Therapist and support practitioners.
Dysphagia experience is essential.
This post involves working as part of the Countywide team as well and having a flexible approach to service delivery.
There is good professional support and supervision from more senior therapists.

Will independently manage and prioritise a complex, highly specialist caseload of complex dysphagia and complex progressive disorders
Will provide leadership support to the other Band 7 within the wider Countywide Team.
Will provide clinical teaching of Speech and Language Therapy students and will develop and deliver specialist training to others in the area of clinical expertise.
Will initiate and undertake research/Clinical Governance/audit projects within area of expertise.
To be involved with Videoflouroscopy with individuals who have significant Dysphagia and take part in analysing the images on PAX and writing the reports. ( training can be provided )
To provide appropriate highly specialist intervention to service users in their own home and evaluate outcomes. To use skills and knowledge to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management for complex clinical issues.
To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of patients/clients with complex dysphagia and Speech & Language disorders. To provide specialise advice in relation to relevant care group.
To provide second opinions to less experienced colleagues, and expert opinions to others, including advice and support for colleagues referring to specialist services from outside Northampton
To participate in and, where indicated, initiate multidisciplinary/multi-agency team meetings and case conferences to ensure co-ordination of patient care.
