Overview:
EXL Engineering Inc. is looking for a full-time Quality Manager to join our team. This position is for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, variable, and technical environment on a small team of hard-working individuals.
As a third-party construction quality control manager, your job is to inspect a project before, during, and after construction to ensure compliance with all project specifications. To accomplish this, you develop and maintain a quality control (QC) plan, create documents and forms to track your findings, and supervise most construction work. You also conduct audits on projects and paperwork, assist project managers with developing construction plans, evaluate and track noncompliance.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Use your proactive approach to identify quality related risks on job sites;
- Jump right in from the project start-up to assist with the implementation of our quality management system;
- Put your problem-solving skills to work to resolve quality-related issues;
- Use your compliance reporting expertise to follow-up and identify root causes;
- Actively analyze corrective/preventative measures and verify results;
- Continually develop and drive the implementation of all quality assurance standards;
- Demonstrate leadership in Quality Management on site;
- Keep the lines of communication open through regular attendance to site meetings and site visits;
- Implement and enforce Project Specific Quality Plan and Quality Systems for the various disciplines in our Clients construction projects;
- Review quality specifications and technical design documents;
- Review and verify Method Statements and Inspection Test Plan;
- Ensure Subcontractor’s Quality System is in place prior to starting work;
- Work closely with project teams to address and resolve quality issues in a timely manner;
- Maintain detailed records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action plans;
- Prepare regular (daily, weekly, monthly) quality reports and updates for the Project Team;
- Spearhead and monitor all consultant inspections, NCR’s and ensure proper closeout.
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in the construction industry and in quality management on construction projects;
- B.Sc. in civil engineering or a CET or a combination of education and industry experience;
- A minimum of 2-years experience with BC Ministry of Transportation Standard Specifications;
- A proven track record of quality related project success and team collaboration;
- Outstanding leadership and organizational skills;
- A dynamic and creative approach with a flair for being proactive and applying good judgement techniques in all situations;
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written;
- Good computer skills are a must.
This position can be based in Kelowna or Kamloops with site visits as required to the projects you are responsible for. The work locations are variable and include working outdoors at continuously changing job sites around the Thompson-Okanagan, Fraser Valley, Lower Mainland and Southern Interior of B.C.
