Fowler Construction is seeking an experienced Highway Maintenance Area Patrol Supervisor to oversee, schedule, and manage operations for the Contractor Directed Maintenance Contract (CDMC) with the Ministry of Transportation. This role is vital in ensuring safe and efficient highway maintenance operations while maintaining compliance with contract specifications and regulatory requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to lead by example.
  • Supervisory experience in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience in highway maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
  • Valid driver’s license (DZ preferred, or willing to acquire DZ).
Responsibilities
  • Direct, manage, and schedule patrollers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) personnel, emergency responders, and the public.
  • Ensure patrollers and operators meet skill level requirements and hold the correct certifications and licenses (e.g., AZ, DZ licenses).
  • Manage recruitment, training, and support the performance management process.
  • Investigate incidents reported by patrollers, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Monitor patrol yard operations and assess road conditions.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager regarding risks and operational concerns.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure their work meets contract requirements.
  • Monitor weather conditions and support patrollers in decision-making.
  • Oversee material orders and deliveries to patrol yards.
  • Review and approve payroll, reports, and documentation for Fowler Construction and the MTO.
  • Direct operations such as the Direct Liquid Application (DLA) process.
  • Conduct yard inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate road closures with emergency services, school boards, and municipalities.
  • Be available for on-call duty as an after-hours emergency contact.
