ABOUT US

Warwickshire County Council County Highways undertake routine highway maintenance schemes/works.
Our Highway Systems Team manage our internal contract management systems, these interfaces are critical in the day-to-day running of our Highway Maintenance contract, whilst also providing live information to elected members and the public.
The Role
This is a new role within a new team, we are looking for a Systems Engineer to design, develop, maintain and configure our highway maintenance contract management systems, integrating and developing customer facing applications, and managing and acting as project leads on procurement of new IT systems.
To deal directly with elected Member’s, local and national politicians, senior managers, Government Departments and other national and regional departments or agencies on behalf of County Highways.
Ensure that the service operates efficiently, safely and all risks and issues are controlled.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

To be successful you’ll need; good communication skills both verbal and written; planning and organising and essentially IT skills. In addition, you’ll have to contribute to current developments in the technical specialism within employing organisation, own industry and professional and trade bodies. Fluent at articulating best practice and is recognised authority in technical specialist.
Provide expert advice to those engaged in activities where technical specialism is applicable within IT and related areas such as budgetary and financial planning, litigation, legislation, and health and safety.
Development of the organisation’s strategic plans, including the creative use of information and communications technology.
Work with the most senior client/user management in establishing the contribution that IT can make to business objectives, defining strategies, agreeing and prioritising high-level requirements, conducting feasibility studies, producing both high-level and detailed business models, overseeing development and implementing solutions.
