Description Provides leadership and oversight for HIM staff which includes performance management, professional development, recruitment, orientation, discipline, and termination. Actively mentors and monitor staff, provides professional development through documentation, training, demonstrations and answering questions. Identifies areas for process improvement and participates in the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of new processes. Leads others during implementation of changes in a positive manner and though modeling expected behaviors and actions. Ensures education and policies are in place to protect health information and to promote the efficient and accurate coding and billing of services. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Assists with activities to meet Joint Commission regulatory requirements. Work collaboratively across organization - for coordination, effectiveness, and efficiency. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, or related degree. 5+ years of experience in Healthcare Information Management. 2+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent computer skills. Able to establish professional relationships with various health care workers. Able to work independently. Ability to educate others on HIM functions. Physical Requirements: Work is of light demand. Routine lifting requirements of less than 25 pounds. Standing, sitting, walking, bending and reaching required. Works inside. Occasionally subjected to irregular working hours.
