Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to lead our wine service and beverage program. This role combines the art of hospitality with technical expertise, ensuring that every pairing enhances the guest’s dining experience. The ideal candidate will be an engaging storyteller, a skilled salesperson, and a meticulous curator who thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Curate, maintain, and expand the wine list to reflect seasonal menus and restaurant philosophy.
Provide expert wine service, including recommendations, tasting notes, and precise pouring techniques.
Conduct tableside wine presentations and guide guests through pairing decisions with confidence and warmth.
Train front-of-house staff on wine knowledge, pairing principles, and service standards.
Manage wine inventory, including ordering, storage, and cellar organization.
Monitor wine quality, ensuring proper temperature, glassware, and decanting procedures are followed.
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop thoughtful food and wine pairings for menu items and special events.
Lead or assist with wine dinners, tastings, and promotional events.
Uphold all alcohol service laws and responsible beverage service standards.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of sommelier or wine-focused service experience in a fine dining environment.
Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent program preferred.
Deep knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, vintages, and producers.
Strong sales skills with the ability to meet or exceed revenue goals.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and educate guests of all wine knowledge levels.
Excellent organizational skills for cellar management and inventory control.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
