Medical Assistant Team Leader HIRS Team Leader -Competitive salary based on experience- stipends/bonuses. Responsible for maintaining workflow with HIRS department. Provides consistent initial training of all new HIRS personnel. Cross trains as necessary. Creates and maintains HIRS training manual. Assists with establishing policies and procedures for the distribution and use of medical records. Provides coverage within HIRS when needed. Handles urgent type situations during Manager’s absence with the assistance of Chief of Support Services. Assists in ensuring that medical records are complete, accurate, secure and readily available, in all aspects of the HIRS dept. Assists in ensuring timely and accurate filing of medical documents in patient charts and helps in monitoring efficiency in this area. Stays current in standard use of ONCO EMR, G-4 & UF. Identifies problems in all areas that pertain to the HIRS dept, reports them to the manager and offers suggestions for improvement. Assists with data collection, reports and compilation of statistical data from medical records. Maintains exceptional professional demeanor and etiquette with all telephone and face to face contacts. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, education programs, conferences, etc. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times. Requirements Knowledge of the methods and procedures of medical records classification, indexing, quality control and assessment. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer systems. Knowledge of medical records regulations and laws regarding appropriate release of information. Knowledge of procedures pertaining to referrals and scheduling of new patients. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision-making. Ability to prepare and maintain detailed record files, reports and other correspondence. 3 years employment in a Medical Record department setting experience preferred. Excellent computer skills. Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum: Associates degree Prior leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
