Histology Assistant 2 Job Responsibilities: Obtains and processes pathology specimens maintaining positive specimen identification, assist histology technicians, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens. Performs all clerical and computer tasks necessary to support the quality operation of the department. Performs frozen section staining, cover-slip and appropriately label slides to aid in diagnostic evaluation. Orders supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels at all times, according to established procedures; Processes send outs accurately and completely, according to established procedures; Handles slides, blocks, and tissues (to include filing, retrieval and disposal) in a timely and accurate manner, according to established procedures. Prepares and maintains the morgue and autopsy areas, according to established procedures; Assists the pathologist with autopsies, to possibly include opening and closing of the body, according to established procedures and to the satisfaction of the pathologist. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
