Due to continued growth and expansion, we are adding dedicated Histology Technicians to our team. These newly created positions reflect our commitment to advancing dermatologic care through innovation, precision, and excellence in laboratory science. Job Responsibilities: Histology Preparation & Microtomy Prepare high-quality histologic slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis. Cut, stain, embed, and preserve tissue with precision to ensure diagnostic accuracy. Perform H&E staining and prepare special stains, including immunohistochemistry. Specimen Handling & Laboratory Workflow Receive, accession, and label all tissues, slides, and cassettes accurately. Perform dermatology-specific grossing and Mohs tissue mapping. Ensure proper tissue orientation, microtomy technique, and minimal artifact creation. Quality, Compliance & Equipment Maintain laboratory equipment, solutions, and inventory. Monitor quality control and adhere to strict regulatory and documentation standards (CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA). Troubleshoot staining, processing, and equipment issues as needed. General Responsibilities Maintain accuracy and efficiency in all pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases. Collaborate effectively with the Histology Manager, Pathologist, and clinical teams. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Basic computer proficiency. Fine manual dexterity and attention to detail. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with accountability. Ability to handle the stress of producing accurate results under time constraints Flexibility to accommodate schedule adjustments. Must follow compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse. Must follow Tareen Dermatology policies and procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience: · Associate degree in Histology or related laboratory science (in compliance with CLIA 493.1489) with completion of an approved histology internship. · HT or HTL (ASCP) Certification required. · Minimum of 1 year of histology technician experience required. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory setting within the dermatology clinic. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. · Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and smell · Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while embedding, cutting, and staining tissue. · Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds. · Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
