QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science or related field
  • Successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program or equivalent on-the-job training
  • ASCP certification as Histotechnician HT or Histotechnologist HTL
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical histology laboratory

Preferred:

  • Bachelor s degree in life sciences or related field
  • More than two years of histology experience in a high-volume laboratory
  • Proficiency in special stains, immunohistochemistry, or frozen sections

Responsibilities
  • Perform tissue grossing assistance, embedding, microtomy, routine H and E staining, special stains, and cover slipping of slides
  • Prepare and maintain all reagents and solutions used in tissue processing and staining
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including microtomes, tissue processors, embedding centers, and automated stainers
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in specimen processing, staining quality, and instrument performance
  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling, documentation, and tracking in accordance with laboratory protocols
  • Participate in and document quality control and quality assurance activities
  • Assist in immunohistochemistry and frozen section preparation, if applicable
  • Train and mentor new employees and students on laboratory procedures and protocols
  • Follow all safety guidelines, infection control procedures, and hazardous material handling policies
  • Communicate effectively with pathologists and team members to resolve issues and improve workflows
  • Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and institutional policies and procedures
  • Participate in continuing education and laboratory process improvement initiatives
