Hospital in the Home (HITH) Medical Officer
Permanent Part Time position (8 hours per week)

About the role
Hospital in the Home Medical Officers are responsible for complete clinical care of patients admitted to Cabrini Hospital in the home. They are required to engage in education, quality improvement, departmental leadership, department meetings and contribute to operational aspects of the Hospital in the Home program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Clinical Care of all HITH patients including assessment, diagnosis, management and procedures
  • Assuming a leadership role in HITH as doctor on-call as required
  • Interacting with patients, families and colleagues in a professional manner
  • Ensuring timely and thorough completion of medical documentation
  • Completing medical billing and other clerical duties
  • Arranging escalation of HITH patients including referral to inpatient doctors, emergency supervising consultant if/as required
  • Assisting the Nurse Manager / Associate Nurse Unit Manager in patient flow

About you

In addition to your commitment to ensuring a high quality patient experience and ability to engage in a weekly and weekend rotational roster, you will need to have and maintain the following:

  • AHPRA mandated continuing professional development requirements
  • Compliance with all mandatory Cabrini training modules (via Workday)
  • Medical Graduates with the Australian Medical Registration
  • Fellowship with at least one of: Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (RACGPP), Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), or Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM)
  • A broad range of clinical experience relevant to HITH
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency with access to the MBS Medicare schedule
  • A valid Australian divers licence
  • Police check (application prior to commencement)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Postgraduate clinical experience in Hospital in the Home (desirable)
