Responsibilities

The HIV Outreach Counselor serves as an advocate to the Community Rightful Center’s clients and partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion for clients, commitment to success and value relationships. This role will require you to conduct HIV testing and provide preventative services to the community.
1. Provide HIV testing, outreach, and education for the high-impact prevention program.
2. Assist in facilitation of client flow and coordination of all clients.
3. Refer, schedule, and maintain appointments for HIV and STD testing.
4. Accurately complete required assessment forms, lab requisitions, and additional written materials.
5. Collect and collate oral specimens.
6. Assist in data entry and preparation of monthly reports.
7. Follow universal safety precautions.
8. Provide and maintain an atmosphere which incorporates the standards and protocols HIV Testing and Linkage program at the Health Education Learning Project
9. Provide pre and post-test health education and screening regarding HIV/STD infection, transmission, prevention, and testing.
10. Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
11. Link HIV positive clients to local medical facilities and other community resources
12. Ensure HIV positive clients maintain enrollment in medication services
13. Participate in on-going trainings as needed.
