PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB

Performs packing tasks on assigned machines

SUPERVISORY RESPONSABILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibility

EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :

High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • General understanding of safety rules
  • Ability to read/write in English; capable of acting on written or verbal instruction.
  • Basic understanding of math concepts to complete production reporting requirements
  • Must possess basic computer skills for use of systems: BPCS, TWI, Pi, Filemaker and NWA software
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works safely at all times following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), safe work practice policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Complete cold start up and shut down procedures, start and stop the machine and clear jams when assigned to Pak Right machines.
  • Verifies UPC, flavor and customer data against the product being produced
  • Erects cartons and makes labels using shop orders
  • Pack product into cases insuring accurate quantity and quality
  • Inspects product throughout packing process; recognize product quality issues and report them immediately to Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager
  • Performs quality checks and enters data into NWA
  • Operates material handling equipment (Big Joe, pallet jack, vacuum lifts, floor lifts, scissor lift etc)
  • Provides relief for other Packers
  • Records production/downtime, data accurately in PI and BPCS system
  • Performs shift change process and order change
  • Performs daily machine clean up following procedure. Maintains department cleanliness to SQF standards (Safe Quality Food)
  • Provides feedback immediately when there are machine issues (jams, abnormal noise on machine, glue gun issues, oil application issues, registration, scanner faults etc.)
  • Participates in Lean Events as scheduled
  • Trains on all applicable department procedures and JSA’s
  • Trains new packers using the training syllabus
  • Assists with performing quarterly and annual clean ups
  • Understands HMI display messages and responds accordingly
  • Carries out environmental compliance tasks, as appropriate to the position.
