PERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience as a prison officer and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working both autonomously and within a team. They should have proven experience in using various techniques to support training and development activities, along with relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Education and Training qualification or equivalent, and/or coaching and teaching experience.
The candidate must be adaptable, able to tailor their communication and behaviour to different groups, and be positive and self-motivated, championing Mitie core values. Strong administrative, record-keeping, and report-writing skills are essential, as well as effective and clear written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Packages and systems is required.
A natural curiosity to develop personal skills and knowledge is important, along with an approachable and engaging communication style. The candidate should be able to build effective relationships with stakeholders to understand and influence expectations, ensuring engagement and safety. They should also have a desire to improve their own and others’ capabilities to meet business needs.
The candidate must be able to pass Enhanced Level 2 Ministry of Justice Vetting Clearance and Enhanced DBS, and remain compliant with Personal Protection training (S.P.E.A.R) and annual refresher training.

Responsibilities

JOB OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Training team are an integral part of Learning and Development, proudly supporting the Mitie Care & Custody Senior Leadership Team in their objective to ensure new and existing colleagues are appropriately trained to fulfil their role and developed to their full potential. As a role model, you must be inclusive, positive, and engaging, advocating the principles of ‘You are Mitie’ in everything you do going the extra mile for your students. Working in collaboration with the Regional Operational Training Teams, Operational Management, QHSE, the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and Mitie Group L&D team, the role requires individuals to work autonomously with passion to deliver the exceptional every day.

MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Actively participate in the Training Team, modeling Mitie values and standards.
  • Manage and deliver training plans, including ITCs and refreshers.
  • Conduct training sessions for new and experienced colleagues, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Deliver “Train the Trainer” packages for coaches, colleagues, and mentors.
  • Facilitate upskilling workshops for trainers.
  • Use diverse techniques to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor delegate progress and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Training Support Team to maintain training records.
  • Review and recommend updates to training materials for continuous improvement.
  • Support Training Managers in promoting training and staff development.
  • Assist in designing and improving bespoke learning packages.
  • Promote PCO apprenticeships in line with Mitie Group’s strategy.
  • Become an SME in areas like Safeguarding, Operational Processes, IT, and Diversity & Inclusion.
