Description
SCOPE OF WORK: The Holistic Healing Therapist will provide holistic, client-centered care through therapeutic bodywork aimed at supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. This role integrates principles of integrative health and wellness to support stress relief, pain management, and lifestyle balance. The therapist will also guide clients in self-care strategies, incorporating natural and traditional healing methods that promote long-term wellness and overall balance.  SUPERVISION: The Holistic Healing Therapist will work under the supervision of the Tribal Health Director, who will provide guidance, direction, and conduct required performance evaluations.  DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Deliver individualized massage therapy treatments that support healing and wellness for clients. 2. Maintain scheduling of appointments, manage reminders, and communicate promptly about cancellations, weather closures, or scheduling changes. 3. Educate clients about the principles of massage therapy and holistic health, including its daily benefits for physical, mental, and emotional balance. 4. Provide health education focused on drug-free methods for pain management, stress relief, and preventative self-care practices. 5. Offer guidance on traditional and natural healing practices such as herbal remedies, meditation, cultural ceremonies, aromatherapy, qigong, yoga, energy work, and more. 6. Collaborate with other Tribal Health programs to ensure care addresses the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. 7. Recommend wellness products that support ongoing stress and pain management, when available. 8. Develop and distribute educational materials that promote massage therapy, self-care, and holistic wellness to community members and staff at SRST, IHS, BIA, SBC, and local schools. 9. Develop and communicate clear policies and treatment protocols to ensure safe and consistent care. 10. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming treatment environment, including disinfecting all spaces and laundering linens daily. 11. Submit monthly reports detailing participation, outcomes, and program impact to the Tribal Health Director. 12. Create and utilize tools to evaluate the effectiveness of massage therapy services and wellness programming. 13. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to expand wellness offerings and secure additional program funding. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Completion of an accredited massage therapy program; current massage therapy license (ND and/or SD); professional liability insurance required. 2. Proficiency in using computers and standard office equipment. 3. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow and clarify instructions. 4. Exceptional organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail. 5. Demonstrates professionalism, emotional maturity, and cultural sensitivity. 6. Maintains confidentiality and upholds high ethical standards. 7. Must pass a background check and drug screening. 8. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurability standards. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Knowledge of Tribal Personnel Policies, Procedures, and Code of Ethics. 2. Ensure licenses and certifications (ND/SD) are current and visibly posted. 3. Maintain up-to-date continuing education and certifications in massage/bodywork and adjunct therapies. 4. Hold valid First Aid, CPR, HIPAA, and Privacy Rule certifications. 5. Attend professional development in wellness and integrative health. 6. Follow infection control protocols and best practices in complementary therapy. 7. Provide services in a safe, ethical, and compassionate environment. 8. Exhibit excellent communication skills with the community and colleagues. 9. Manage appointments efficiently, ensuring services are provided by appointment only. 10. Maintain thorough disinfection protocols before and after each session, including the use of air purifiers and EPA-approved products. 11. Wash all linens in hot water daily; use table protectors and warmers with each session. 12. Allocate a 30-minute sanitation period between sessions. 13. Enforce safety protocols, including the use of face coverings and shields when necessary. 14. Screen all clients for health status and ensure proper intake procedures. 15. Ensure clients wait outside until invited into the treatment space. 16. Provide wellness and self-care handouts bi-monthly to the community. 17. Respect and ensure client privacy during all sessions. 18. Provide each client with clear guidelines on treatment policies and procedures prior to their first session.
