Description

Bob’s Smart Home, a division of Bob’s Heating & Air Conditioning, is hiring to fill the position of Lead Installer with a focus in Home Automation Programmer (Control4).
As a team member of Bob’s Heating Smart Home division and Bob’s Heating & Air Conditioning, this position is a skilled and motivated professional, specializing in smart home systems. In this role, you’ll install, program, and troubleshoot integrated home automation solutions, including lighting, climate control, security, and AV systems for residential clients. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in both technical programming and hands-on fieldwork in new construction and custom home environments.
You are: a highly motivated and technically skilled professional with hands-on experience programming Control4 home automation systems. You are equally comfortable working in a client’s luxury home environment or on active new construction sites. With a valid Washington State 06 Electrical License, you bring a solid foundation in electrical and low-voltage systems, along with a deep understanding of smart home technology. You’re known for being detail-oriented, self-directed, and taking pride in clean, efficient installations. Strong communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot creatively are essential, as you will often collaborate with clients, builders, and team members to deliver top-tier custom automation solutions.

EDUCATION

  • High school education or equivalent.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • WA State 02 OR 06 Journeyman Electrician License
  • Proven experience with Control4 programming and installation
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage systems, smart home technology, and network infrastructure
  • Motivated self-starters who work well independently with great time management skills, communication skills and organizational skills.
  • An investigative spirit, good problem-solving skills and a passion for helping others.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to assistant installers

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Federal, Washington State, and local codes and regulations
  • Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations and guidelines
  • Technical reading and writing; reading blueprints and schematics; reading wiring diagrams; troubleshooting methods and techniques.
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Proficient in CRM systems with a proven track record of effectively utilizing data. Manage and upload job information, including images.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Must possess exceptional organization skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to work independently to manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Program and configure Control4 home automation systems for lighting, AV, climate, security, and more.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to meet system specifications.
  • Install, wire, and troubleshoot home automation equipment and low-voltage systems.
  • Support the integration of smart home devices and ensure seamless user experiences.
  • Perform electrical installations under the scope of a Washington State 06 Electrical License.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for custom residential projects

  • Residential trim from start to finish
  • General knowledge of networking systems

  • Quality checks to ensure no damaged product is installed
  • Clean and maintained work area, equipment and company vehicle
  • Providing on-the-job training and supervision for electrical apprentices
  • Inventory control to avoid wasting product
  • Working with tools safely and efficiently
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, company policies, and state regulations.
  • Safely operate and drive a company vehicle to and from job sites, customer meetings, and appointments on a daily basis, ensuring adherence to company policies and traffic laws.
