Position Title: Home Based Educator Reports To: Home Based Educator Supervisor Classification: Full Time / Non-Exempt Status: Hourly Range: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour Required Education and Experience: Child Development Associate (CDA) in Home Visiting, associate degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred. Additional Degrees with relevant and equivalent work experience will be reviewed/accepted. Acquire and/or maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid. Summary/Objective: This position is responsible having knowledge of child development and an understanding and appreciation of the families' social, economic, and cultural background. Communication and interpersonal skills are vital to this position along with problem solving and confidentiality. Home-Based Educators display acceptance and respect for each family's diversity and a cooperative spirit with coworkers. This position approaches work from a family strengths perspective. Duties include handling information and referral requests, database entry, performing clerical tasks, home visiting, recruiting families, and being a Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse and Neglect. Required Education and Experience: Child Development Associate (CDA) in Home Visiting, associate degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred. Additional Degrees with relevant and equivalent work experience will be reviewed/accepted. Acquire and/or maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid. Essential Functions: Daily Activities Schedules and conducts weekly home visits with parents and children in their homes lasting at a minimum 90 minutes. Plans, implements, and evaluates, with parents, group socialization experiences. Coordinates the planning and implementation of all required screenings and evaluations of children, including health and disability. Follows CAAC referral procedures. Parent Education Fosters the view and practice in parents that they are their child's first and most important teacher and assists families in keeping an on-going file of weekly home visit plans and follow-up activities. Encourage parents to participate in all scheduled program parent activities. Assist families in the utilization of learning opportunities for their child using available household materials and activities that naturally occur in the home, strengthening the family's knowledge of nutrition and child health and safety. Competencies: Highly proficient communication skills; oral and written. Understands importance of collaboration and exhibits community relations skill. Demonstrates leadership and ability to work independently. Demonstrates excellent organizational skill and attention to detail. Proficient computer skill to include MS Office Suite to include 365, Excel, Word etc. Excellent time management. Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty. Ability to maintain client and organizational confidentiality. Bilingual preferred.
Responsibilities
This role involves conducting weekly home visits with parents and children, planning and evaluating group socialization experiences, and coordinating required child screenings and evaluations.
