Description

Do you want to do meaningful work in your own neighbourhood—on your own schedule? This job might be just for you!

ABOUT US

Hemby is a well-established Nordic home care concept, operating in three countries, Finland, Germany and since the spring of 2025 also in the UK. Our mission is simple: empowering people to care for the elderly in their own neighbourhoods.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A Big Heart for the Elderly – We help the elderly as we’d help our own loved ones. A caring, patient approach is key.
  • Punctual & Committed – Building trust matters. Ideally, you can commit to supporting a elderly person for a longer period of time.
  • Independent & Reliable – You’ll have support from our team, but the job requires self-sufficiency.
  • Open to All Backgrounds – Whether you’re a student, retired, or simply looking for part-time work, what truly matters is your enthusiasm and a genuine passion for helping others. No nursing degree required—this is non-medical / non-hygiene home support.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We offer flexible, part-time work in or near Twickenham where we already have a customer waiting for their own helper.
After completing our recruitment and induction process, you’ll have the opportunity to support our warm and friendly elderly clients in their daily lives. In some cases, the connection between our employees and clients even grows into a meaningful, long-term friendship.
At Hemby, flexibility is a core part of our approach—there are no fixed shifts. You have the freedom to choose how much or how little you want to work. Plus, you can coordinate your schedule directly with your client(s), ensuring a work-life balance that suits you. You track your hours in our app, and we handle the rest. No paperwork, no hassle.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Your tasks depend on the elderly person’s needs, but may include:

  • Housekeeping – Laundry, ironing, washing up, taking out rubbish
  • Home Cleaning – Vacuuming, dusting, bathroom cleaning, tidying up
  • Everyday Help – Cutting the grass, helping with digital devices
  • Meal Preparation – Heating up food, making a sandwich, serving tea
  • Running Errands – Grocery shopping or picking up essentials
  • Companionship – Chatting, playing games, attending cultural events, going for walks
  • Help with Appointments – Accompanying them to the doctor, pharmacy, or social gatherings
  • Walks & Outings – Strolling in the park, social visits
  • Sit-in Service – Supporting family caregivers who need a break
