Description
Description A Home Health and Hospice Authorization Specialist obtain and manages insurance authorizations to support timely start and continuation of home health and hospice services. Responsibilities and Duties: • Obtain initial and ongoing authorizations for home health and hospice services • Verify eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements via phone and payer portals • Submit authorization requests accurately and within required timeframes • Track authorization status and follow up on pending requests • Review documentation for completeness prior to submission • Communicate approvals, denials, and updates to intake and clinical teams • Maintain accurate records in EMR systems and payer portals • Promote a Friendly, Positive, and Excellence-Focused environment • Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Competencies: • Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills • High attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently and collaboratively Job Qualifications: • High school diploma required; degree preferred • 1+ year of authorization or healthcare administrative experience preferred • Knowledge of Home Health/Hospice and insurance plans (Medicare/Medicaid/commercial) preferred Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and move about • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Schedule: • Full-Time • 8 Hour Shifts • Monday - Friday
