Hospice of the East Bay (HEB) is a community-based hospice and palliative care organization providing services in patients’ homes and at our six-bed inpatient hospice facility for those with terminal illnesses or in need of palliative care. Our interdisciplinary team delivers compassionate, high-quality care to patients and their families, with bereavement support provided for a minimum of one year following a loss. Through our sponsored care program, we ensure that hospice and palliative care services are available to all, regardless of ability to pay. POSITION SUMMARY:   Reporting to Director of Patient Care Services, this position has responsibility for supervising the schedulers, Team 4 (per-diem, after-hour and weekend nurses), including day-to-day management of nursing resources.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  * Ensure accountability of direct reports through regular tracking and documented coaching. * Provide field supervisory visits for direct report nurses annually and as needed.   Supervisory visits would be on day shift, end of NOC shift and PM shift. * Assist with patient care when needed. * Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and CHAP standards. * Collaborate with QEC educator for orientation and ongoing training needs. * Directs the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure patients are admitted in accordance with policy. * Manage schedulers and staffing processes. * Review and approve timecards, provide oversight to overtime and missed meals. * Review and approve time off requests and ensure adequate patient coverage in coordination with the scheduler and other team managers as appropriate. * Identifies opportunities for additional or improved services to meet unmet staffing needs. * Participate in Administrative On-Call rotation.   The above statements are intended to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.  The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description.   POSITION REQUIREMENTS:   * Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and ensure streamlined workflows. * Adaptable and flexible in response to evolving healthcare trends, technologies and policies. * Demonstrated ability to educate and hold team members accountable for organization policies and procedures. * Excellent clinical knowledge and skills. * Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and provide feedback. * Must be able to work well under pressure, meet multiple priorities and competing deadlines. * Demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and management staff.  EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIRED:  * Current California registered nurse license * At least 2-3 years’ experience working as a registered nurse in Hospice * Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel. * Knowledge of governmental regulations and CHAP standards * Demonstrates good communication and public relations skills. * Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
