Description

Greater Vancouver Community Services Society (GVCSS) is a non-profit society delivering care and services in the community to support the independence and well-being of the elderly, people with disabilities, and others who require support to retain or regain health and autonomy.
We are looking for two qualified LPN Supervisors to fulfill opportunities in our Community and Home Support Program in the Vancouver and Richmond areas. This position will report primarily to our head office on 1401 West 8th Avenue and will include some fieldwork.
Job Status: Casual
Availability Window: Monday to Sunday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm (Flexible)
Starting from: $34.72 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • 2 years of clinical experience in an LPN role.
  • 2 years of recent related experience providing supervision, training, and instruction, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Full licensure and current Registration with BC College of Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Physical and mental ability to perform the required work
  • Must own a vehicle and possess a valid B.C. driver’s license.

Responsibilities
  • Implement individual plans governing the provision of personal care and nursing tasks to clients by Community Health Workers, and to review and revise those procedures and plans as appropriate and needed
  • Pay visits to clients to ensure that the procedures and care plans are followed by both the clients and Community Health Workers
  • Observe, review and evaluate the skills and performance of Community Health Workers
  • Coordinate training activities, including orientation, training manuals, and in-service programs and workshops, to improve the personal care skills and knowledge of Community Health Workers and other Agency staff.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary community care teams on matters pertaining to the complex personal care of individual clients and health/nursing care
  • Maintain close communication and liaison with individuals involved in the provision of care to clients, including staff, clients’ family/friends and other health professionals, such as the Continuing Care staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management, and occupational health and safety activities
  • Maintain and compile appropriate statistics, records, and reports.
  • Deliver nursing services and interventions to clients with stable health status based on assessment and care planning procedures, and within the full scope of LPN practice, as required, such as but not limited to, nursing assessment, medication administration, wound dressings and required clinical procedures
  • Provide LPN Services to individuals in the community
  • Attend various committees and meetings as required
